Picture Frame Christmas Tree

Years ago I saw a Christmas tree adorned with picture frames full of treasured family photos and it stopped me in my tracks - I loved it! Christmas to me is all about the sentimental! I’d already decorated my tree for the year when I found it so I set the idea aside for future use.

I believe it’s from an old Pottery Barn catalogue but sadly I cannot find the source to credit. Then with the arrival of kids, big frames didn’t feel like best choice in terms of safety or survival the frames so I kept waiting.

This year I decided I wanted to put a tree in my office, and considering I spend as many hours in my office as anywhere else in my home it felt like a good decision. And since the children are not allowed in my office without supervision, I felt more comfortable giving the frames a try!

I stocked up on a few different frame styles 5 of the gold, 4 of the white, and 4 of the red. I printed out some family Christmas pictures at Walgreens and was on my way.

We put up and decorated the tree leaving a little room between ornaments for the frames.

To be honest I didn’t have a well-developed plan for how to hang them on the tree, but like with so many things figured I would just work it out as I went along. I started by holding the frames up to try out different spacing on the tree and then I wondered if they might stick if I just kind of a wiggled them in with tree branches so I gave it a shot, and it worked!

It is a big hit on many many work Zooms and I’m thrilled I was finally able to make a picture frame tree happen!
