The Allard Family Celebrates #BacktoHogwarts

If you know me IRL, you may know I’m a hardcore Harry Potter fan. I re-read or listen to the audiobooks on an almost continuous loop, I’ve been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I saw the Cursed Child on Broadway, I went to London to do the WB Harry Potter Soundstage Tour. I’ve thrown my little sister at least half a dozen Harry Potter themed birthday parties. I’m all in. So of course, I’m all about passing along my love of all things Potter to my kiddos.

If you’ve read the books, you may recall that each year Wizarding families all over the UK pack their trunks and gather at Platform 9 and 3/4 to send their offspring #BacktoHogwarts. While the Allard kids aren’t yet age 11 and Hogwarts eligible, it’s never too early to start teaching them about the magic!

Last year marked the family celebration of Back to Hogwarts Day (or as my kids call it, Harry Potter Party Day), and thankfully the kids remembered the fun we had and were eager to celebrate again this year!

We read from our Illustrated Harry Potter trio, we watched a little Goblet of Fire (just snippets because of short attention spans), we made Chocolate Frogs to top peanut butter cookies, we dressed up in school robes and HP t-shirts and PJs, and we pretended to break through the barrier to platform 9 and 3/4.

Are you or your kids Harry Potter fans? How do you share the magic? Weigh in on your ideas in the comments!

Want to throw your own Harry Potter celebration? Here a bunch of links of things we’ve bought and liked.
