Gearing up for winter fun
After two years living in San Antonio, Texas, we kind of forget what cold weather is. Colorado seems like it is going to do a lot to remind us! We’ve already had snow! On September 8th we got a couple of inches. The kids loved it! Thankfully it was gone in a day and back in the 70s and 8os for most of September, but we know cooler temps are right around the corner.
As I shared earlier this week, our little family has become outdoor adventures! We go on nightly multi-mile walks and at least one big hike in nature every week. So we needed new gear that was capable to keep us warm in the shade and wind, and able to peel off layers when that strong Colorado sun starts baking us.
The 3-in-1 style jackets seemed perfect. Most of the big winter gear/ outdoor companies have some version of this LL Bean (3-in-1), Columbia (Interchange), North Face (Trimclimate). The concept is basically the same, there is a coat with a zip out fleece or nylon shell. Each layer can be worn separately or they can both be worn together on those really cold days.
It was important to me to find jackets in unifying color palates or themes. First, because that’s my approach to everything aesthetically, but also for the limited safety benefit that comes from being able to quickly identify a group.
Finding a color/theme other than solid black that I could find 3-in-1s in women’s, men’s, little kids, toddler, and babies. But if I have any skill at all it is being able to find things on the internet. So here’s what we’ve ordered:
Bring on the winter adventures!
